By age 13, 70% of the 20-25 million American children who play sports drop out. “As a mother of two high school student athletes, I know how sports enrich my children’s lives,” said Sherri Gold, Sports & Education Expo Managing Partner and Event Director. “I also know the frustration of trying to gather information about injury prevention, time management and higher education options for athletes. I was convinced there had to be a better way to handle the balance of sports, education and life.”

This led to the development of the two-day Sports & Education Expo launching at the Pennsylvania Convention Center May 31 and June 1, with dozens of interactive sports, workshops, clinics and demos, a college planning fair, exhibits, the EXPY awards, and more.

Gold is joining forces with her husband and managing partner Perry Gold; fellow sports parent and entrepreneur  Marc Rosenthal, managing partner; along with Bob Carullo, NCAA MVP athlete and coach, decorated veteran, sports parent, coach and executive director of SMART, to acknowledge everyone involved in the best aspects of youth sports, education, health and wellness.

“We don’t shy away from the negative aspects of youth sports at our Expo workshops, but we definitely wanted to honor those who exemplify all that is positive via our EXPY Awards,” Perry Gold added.

Festivities will include a silent auction, the awards presentation, celebrity appearances, buffet dinner and cash bar. Attire is casual and tickets are $75 per person. A VIP reserved table for 10, with additional benefits, is $2500. Sponsorships are available. For more information, call Perry Gold at 626-622-7902, email or visit

The Sports & Education Expo was created for parents of children 5-18, youth coaches, athletic directors, athletic trainers and school counselors who serve our youth on the playing field and in the academic arena, as well as valued military and veteran families. The goal is to build a foundation that encourages development, respect, responsibility, confidence and healthy choices. For more information, visit
