Menorah Car Parade

Hanukkah (sometimes spelled “Chanukah”) is known as the Feastival of Lights, a Jewish holiday that commemorates Israel’s freedom from the oppressive Syrian-Greek rule and the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. That is why in Hebrew, the word “hanukkah” means “dedication.”

Hanukkah falls on the twenty-fifth day of the Jewish month of Kislev and begins in thie year at sunset on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Its celebration continues on Thursday, December 2, 2010, and finishes at nightfall on Thursday, December 9, 2010.

Most Hanukkah traditions take place at home. Each night we light menorah or hanukkiah, we play dreidel, and we sing songs. Hanukkah has also become a popular gift-giving holiday.

The public is invited to Railroad Plaza on the first night of Hanukkah for the annual lighting of the Menorah. The event will take place on December 1st at 6:30pm at Railroad Plaza, West Main & Green Streets in Lansdale.

  1. Bred says:

I also don’t understand this relative friendliness towards Russia that the press has. Is it because of similar racial heritage? That is the only explanation. Because like China, Russia is an autocracy in all but name (there is only one real party, one real leader in Russia), corruption is rampant within government, crime gangs rule. Yet western media is suspicious of China, far moreso than Russia.

  2. Ezra says:

Unfortunately the UK now has no choice but to be trade with the Russians. Thatcher closed down all our coal mines so we now buy more expensive coal from places like Russia and we also have to buy power from them because we no longer produce enough of our own coal to make our own energy. The Tories sold us out to the Russians and now we pay the price AGAIN.

  3. Garth says:

James your analogy of your love life and international politics was lost on me. Politicians have to “date” the scum of the earth in the pursuit of the nation’s interest. They know they are scum, but even overtly corrupt people have commonality. Your dating issues are down to your selfishness. You know your hopes and dreams, but you failed to ask the girl of your dreams what she hoped for.

  4. Ivo says:

Well.. Mr. Putin is clearly above Cameron but we should strengthen our ties with Russia. Germany has a good relation with Russia which is a huge market and the Germans have a lot of benefits from it however the Germans also have a more competent political elite.

  5. Jill says:

If Putin becomes president again then frankly we’re backing a losing horse.Putin has no time for democracy,he only has time for his own inner circle. It’ll mean Russia becoming more isolated, more belligerent to those who disagree with them. You only have to see the hassels business’s have trying to get deals done there. The State can step in anytime and scupper deals or impose big restrictions.
