Pocono Garlic Festival

True garlic fanatics know the Pocono Garlic Festival is by far the stinkiest festival in the tri state area! The event is always held on Labor Day Weekend, September 5 & 6, which coincides with the regional harvest of Hard neck garlic. For all garlic lovers this is the beginning a Pennsylvania pilgrimage to Shawnee Ski Mountain Area where the festival is held.

Since it’s inception in 1994 the festival grew like the bulbous culinary delight that it celebrated. Hosted by the original four farmers who wanted to share their passion of the garlic harvest, the group has now paved a way for garlic enthusiasts of all kinds to indulge their garlic fantasies. Many imaginative culinary garlic dishes have been developed through the years that have became a favorite to returning festival goers, including garlic ice cream, garlic shaved ice, on site freshly prepared garlic whole roasted pig, garlic crepes, roasted garlic cheese pierogies, garlic pickles, garlic crab cakes and even garlic chocolate chip cookies.

“Planning started early this year, as the festival committee wants this year to be extra garlicious. Some of the line-up has changed and they have added need addфitions for true garlic lovers. The Garlic Festival is fun for all ages and performers from far and near come to the festival. The grounds are filled with magicians, jugglers and strolling musicians through out the day. We are fortunate to boast we have a continuous jamboree of entertainment, which is all included with the cost of admission that is held on four stages.” Explained Sharon Rothman 2015 PGF Communications Manager.

Attracting thousands of hungry guests seeking food laced with garlic, the Pocono Garlic Festival sure boasts and delivers the best, and highest quality selection of garlic as well as garlic related products. A gastronomic garlic extravaganza that hosts over fifty vendors who all sell one of a kind garlic laced foods, art, table stock garlic , farming seminars, garlic culinary and eating contests.

“People get really passionate about garlic. It’s infused in our culture and it’s in just about every ethnic dish that you can imagine; Polish, Italian, Mediterranean, regional American, the international list of foods is too long to mention but garlic is a common dominator when you think about a delicious meal. I believe it’s an ingredient of longevity. Only at the Pocono Garlic Festival can you taste your way around the world in just one day!” added Rothman
