At Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Manilla, the new Miss Earth Tereza Fajksova (Miss Czech Republic) was crowned from a bevy of almost 90 delegates worldwide to succeed Ecuador’s Olga Alava, last year’s winner.
According to media, “this year’s edition of the environment-driven global beauty pageant has been made more exciting by subsidiary competitions and challenges that award medals and corresponding points to the top three placers of each competition.
Miss Philippines Stephany Dianne D. Stefanowitz, a 23-year-old Filipino-German fashion designer, won the country’s second Miss Earth title (after Karla Henry in 2008). She, however, faced serious competition from strong contenders from South Africa (Tamerin Jardine), Venezuela (Osmariel Villalobos), USA (Siria Ysabel Bojorquez). Expected also to crowd them into the finals were the delegates from Brazil, Costa Rica, Korea, Spain and the controversial Miss Russia who has posed nude in an international men’s magazine”.
