This year the city of York, UK, will distinguish itself exactly on March 8th – on the International Women’s Day.
During the feminist carnival there will be presented a unique collage made of… women’s panties. More than 150 panties, sent here by women from around the world including the US, were used to create this extraordinary piece of art, glorifying “women of all shapes and sizes”. The carnival flag was sewed by an artist and a designer from York Julia Triston — in honor of the 100 year anniversary of the International Women’s Day.
The carnival will last for 3 days.
“The aim of the carnival bunting is to show that our underwear can tell a story of its own, whoever we are and whatever we portray externally. — Julia Triston said. — In this piece of artwork we will be putting on show, proudly and honestly, what is usually unseen and taboo.”
