Last Saturday, a 17-year-old boy from Florida was doing what many teenagers do. He went on Facebook at 1:15 PM and posted that he was having a party that night. Dozens of friends came over that night and proceeded to have a good time.
What they did not know, however, was that in between the time of the Facebook post and the party, the boy, Tyler Hadley, bludgeoned his parents to death with a hammer and the deceased parents were lying in a in a bedroom while the party was taking place.
Mary Jo Hadley, 47, was an elementary school teacher while Blake, the father, 53, worked for Florida Power and Light. While the party was going on, the 60+ teens were making enough noise to prompt a noise complaint. Once inside the house, the police found the bodies of Tyler Hadley’s parents covered with books and household items with a hammer between them.
The affidavit currently states that Tyler has admitted to killing his parents and told a friend beforehand what he had planned to do. While police are unable to find a motive, Tyler is charged with twin counts of first-degree murder and will be tried as an adult. In Floridian law, first-degree murder is subject to the death penalty.
