Looking to Philadelphia for Japan disaster relief

The Japanese community in Philadelphia has reach out to Philadelphians asking for help in regards to the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit northern Japan.  Currently, Philadelphians who want to help can go to www.jasp.org in order to find out more information.

This is the website for the Japanese America Society of Greater Philadelphia which is located in South Philadelphia.  If you want to help immediately and contribute funds to the disaster relief effort please text the word redcross to 90999.  This would contribute $10 to the Red Cross’ Japan Disaster Relief Fund and would be charged to your phone bill.  If you are looking to check on the safety of a friend or family in Japan please go to https://japan.person-finder.appspot.com/?lang=en.

The 2011 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival has begun and will run from March 4th to April 15th.   This event celebrates Japanese art, food, and the planting of cherry trees.
