Old Kensington Neighborhood is New Home to Creative Professionals

On April 1st, 2012 the new Paper Box Studios in the Old Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia will open its doors! Paper Box Studios, a Voloshin Development, will feature office spaces for artists and creative professionals alike to practice their trades. The building will join a hub of creative, wide-open spaces in the steadily improving section of North Philadelphia by creating 25 new workspaces ranging from 200 to 2300 square feet.

“We are proud to be a part of revitalizing this important arts passage in the Old Kensignton area and arethrilled by the response to the project thus far”, stated Leo Voloshin, CEO of Voloshin Developments. “We already have 15 spaces leased, and we will be moving our 16 employees from Printfresh LLC into the building.”

The 32,000sq/ft. long vacant warehouse, formerly a tobacco factory, trunk works and paper box factory, from the late 1880’s is located at 1639 North Hancock one of the most up and coming areas in Philadelphia near Northern Liberties. Many of the building’s unique architectural features have been preserved such as exposed brick walls, restored beams, historic chimney and decorative tin features.

Amenities include heating and air-conditioning, secure bike storage in the courtyard, Wi-Fi connection, kitchenettes, and ample street parking. Some of the larger spaces feature private bathrooms, washout sinks and parking spaces. The “Co-working” space at Paper Box Studios, due to launch on June 1st, 2012, will feature small private offices; open working areas, and a conference room. Financial assistance for the acquisition and development was provided by Finanta, (a non-profit lending corporation thatpromotes growth and economic expansion in the American Street Empowerment Zone), and PIDC.
