“Philadelphia is at a heightened level of security at this point,” said Mayor Michael Nutter on a press conference, that was held on Monday night.
According to CBS News, “Philadelphia police in coordination with Amtrak, SEPTA, Parks & Recreation Department, and the U.S. National Park Service are all on heightened alert”.
“If you see something, say something,by calling 911, 311, or the police tip line at 215-686-8477.” said Nutter.
Police issued over scanners for officers to monitor public transportation lines and courthouses,to keep a look out for suspicious vehicles and to check for identification at all city government buildings.
Amtrak reminds customers to report all suspicious activity by dialing 911 or 1-800-331-0008.
” The New Jersey State Police and New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness convened at the state’s intelligence center to coordinate actions following the explosions that happened near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday,” CBS News said.
Police urge the public to report tips about suspicious activity to 1-866-4-SAFE NJ (1-866-472-3365).
New Jersey Transit is currently in a heightened state of alert. NJ Transit police have deployed both uniformed and plain clothed officers to further patrol the system. Customers should report any suspicious or unusual activity to NJ Transit police at 1-888-TIPS-NJT.
