Two people were shot dead Wednesday at the University of California, Los Angeles, prompting authorities to temporarily lock down the campus.
Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck says the shooting was a murder-suicide. He described both victims as male adults.
Authorities say reports of a shooting near an engineering studies building on campus came in around 10 a.m. local time, or 1700 UTC.
UCLA is in the Westwood section of Los Angeles and has a student population of more than 40,000. The shooting occurred the week before final exams were to be held at the school.
